Activity on the ZSE in September 2021

In September CROBEX increased by 1.61%, ending the month at 1,999.2 points.

The total equity turnover in September the turnover reached EUR 31.7m (HRK 10.87m), indicating an average daily turnover of EUR 1.44m (+91% MoM).

Out of the total value traded (excluding block transactions) in September, Podravka generated 31.8% (or HRK 75.1m) of the total equity traded on ZSE. The company’s share ended up being in the spotlight in September with the share price increasing by as much as 13.4%, while Mesna Industrija Braća Pivac, the majority owner of Kraš, has entered the top 10 shareholders. To be specific, MI Braća Pivac currently owns a 3.18% stake in Podravka, making it the 8th largest shareholder.

Coming back to turnover, HT comes next accounting for 12% of regular turnover, while Atlantska Plovidba and Croatia osiguranje follow with 7.2% and 6.2%, respectively. Meanwhile, Adris pref. accounted for 6.2%. These top five traded companies accounted for 61.6% of the total value traded.

In late September, SPAN was listed on the ZSE, which ended up being the 8th most traded share. As a reminder, 23 of September marked the first trading day of SPAN which ended the day at HRK 208 per share. This represents an increase of as much as 18.9%, compared to the IPO price. We also note that the share opened at HRK 218 per share, which also represented its daily peek (representing a 24.6% increase compared to the IPO price). The first trading day of the share was quite active with a daily turnover of HRK 5.77m, accounting for 47% of the total turnover on the ZSE.

Among the CROBEX constituents, 12 ended the month in green with Saponia (+17%) and Atlantska Plovidba (+15%) being the best performers. Podravka and ZABA come next, with an increase of 13.4% and 7.5%, respectively. On the flip side, Petrokemija and Dalekovod found their way among the losers, decreasing by 21.4% and 10.1%, respectively.

As a result of all of the above, the main index of ZSE, CROBEX noted an increase of 1.61%, thus ending the month at 1,999.2 points. CROBEX10 ended the month in green with an increase of 1.76%.

Total ETF turnover amounted to HRK 2.51m, while the market cap of both ETFs reached slightly below HRK 60m.

Loans of Croatian Financial Institutions – August 2021

As of end August, total financial institution’s loans amounted to HRK 279.04bn, which represents a 2.9% increase YoY and a 0.3% decrease MoM.

Croatian National Bank (HNB) published their monthly statistical report on loans placement of other monetary financial institutions. According to the monthly statistical report, as of end August, total financial institution’s loans amounted to HRK 279.04bn, which represents a 2.9% increase YoY and a 0.3% decrease MoM.

Its largest segments household loans recorded a significant growth of 4% YoY and 0.13% MoM. Meanwhile, corporate loans witnessed a decrease of 0.4% YoY. It’s also worth noting that corporate loans documented a negative trend for the sixth consecutive month, both on YoY and MoM (-0.4% YoY and -0.98% MoM). Focusing on a YTD basis, household loans rose by 3.2%, while corporate loans are down by 2.1%.

Total loans issued to households amounted to HRK 140.51bn, representing an increase of 4% YoY (or HRK 5.34bn). Such an increase was mainly a consequence of a rise in housing loans (+10.3% YoY or HRK 6.17bn).  Consumer loans, which maintained the level of 37.6% (or HRK 52.87bn) of all household loans, witnessed a minor growth of 0.2% YoY (or HRK 115.8m).  It is worth noting that these two items account for 84.9% of the total loans to households.

Turning our attention to car loans, it is worth noting that negative trend continues, as this segment recorded  a decrease of 24% YoY (HRK 108.4m).
