Today, Hidroelectrica announced its entry into FTSE Emerging Markets and MSCI Frontier Markets indices, which will strengthen Romania’s presence to international investors.
Hidroelectrica, the largest IPO in the region in the last couple of years, has been listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange yesterday. During its 1st trading day, it traded app. EUR 153m, and the share price increased by 5.8%.
Today, Hidroelectrica announced that it will be included in several new indices. Firstly, starting from 19 July 2023, Hidroelectrica will be included in FTSE Global All-World Index, FTSE Global Large Cap Index, and FTSE Emerging Index. Secondly, MSCI announced that starting 26 July 2023, Hidroelectrica’s shares will be included in the MSCI Frontier and MSCI Romania indices.
According to the press release, Hidroelectrica is the 1st Romanian company to benefit from the fast entry mechanisms of the global index providers FTSE Russell and MSCI. It is also the 7th Romanian company included in the FTSE Global All-World Index, FTSE Global Large Cap Index, and FTSE Emerging Index. With the inclusion of Hidroelectrica, Romania will have 14 companies included in the FTSE Russell indices dedicated to Emerging Markets. Hidroelectrica will also be the 12th Romanian-listed company included in the MSCI Frontier IMI indices.
