MedLife announced that they will open the second Real Time PCR laboratory at the beginning of next week, in order to detect the infection with COVID-19.

The new laboratory is located in Sfântu Gheorghe and will contribute to the increase of testing capacity in the center of the country. It has biosecurity circuits, successive spaces with negative pressure and special equipment dedicated to processing tests for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The company notes that the laboratory will operate to the highest standards of security, having isolated access circuits and processing flows totally separate from those for the rest of the laboratory samples. According to company representatives, the laboratory will initially process about 100 tests per day, and will gradually reach 200 tests per day, this capacity being dependent on the extension of specialized laboratory personnel.

The company will urgently take measures to open the third COVID 19 testing laboratory. It will initially process about 150 tests per day and will gradually reach up to 300 tests per day. MedLife adds that if the efforts will have the support of the authorities to speed up the operating permit, the company will reach in the next two to three weeks a number of three Real Time PCR laboratories at national level.
