Activity on the ZSE in H1 & June 2019

Trading statistics for H1 2019 show an average daily turnover of EUR 1.16m (-2.6% YoY). Meanwhile, in June 2019, the average daily turnover amounted to EUR 1.17m (+13.6% YoY). The major index CROBEX ended June with an increase of 1.72% MoM ending at 1,883.11 points.

In H1 2019, the Zagreb Stock Exchange observed an average daily turnover of EUR 1.16m, which represents a decrease of 2.6% YoY. However, it is worth noting that most of this decrease comes from the lower turnover in January, while the ZSE has been observing double-digit growth in average daily turnover consecutively since March.

Of the total traded value traded in the period (excluding block transactions), Valamar and HT generated around 16%, followed by Adris (preferred shares) with 11%, Optima Telekom with 6% and Podravka with 5%.  These 5 shares generated more than half of the turnover recorded by the entire market.

When compared to the beginning of the year the main index CROBEX increased by 7.7%, ending at 1,883.11 points.

June 2019

Besides that, the Zagreb Stock Exchange published their trading statistics for June 2019, showing an average daily turnover of EUR 1.17m. This represents an increase of 13.6% YoY.

Of the total traded value traded in the period (excluding block transactions), Optima Telekom generated 18.1%, followed by HT with 16.8%, Valamar with 13.3%, Adris (preferred shares) with 10.4%, Podravka with 6.4%. These 5 shares generated almost two-thirds of the turnover recorded by the entire market.

The increase in turnover of Optima Telekom could be mostly attributed to the speculation by the media that United Group might be interested in acquiring Optima Telekom. When observing the total equity market capitalization, it decreased by 0.7% YoY. Ina’s share is the biggest constituent of the total exchange’s equity market capitalization, accounting for about 22.4% of the total value. Next, come two Croatian banks – Zagrebačka banka and PBZ with 13.6% and 10.4%, respectively. Further, HT holds 9.6% while Adris accounts for 3.7% of the total market capitalization value.

When compared to the beginning of the month the main index CROBEX increased by 1.72%, ending at 1,883.11 points. Meanwhile, CROBEXtransport observed the highest increase of 7.5% of all sector indexes. On the flip side, CROBEXkonstrukt recorded the highest decrease of 5.88%.
