Trading statistics for August show an average daily turnover of EUR 0.92m (+2% YoY). Meanwhile, the major index CROBEX ended August with a solid increase of 2.75% ending at 1,617.09 points.
Trading report for August shows a relatively low turnover of EUR 18.3m, which translates into an average daily turnover of EUR 0.92m (+2% YoY). Such turnover in August reveals a continuation of relatively low liquidity on the ZSE, which we have been witnessing throughout most of Q2 and Q3.
Of the total value traded in the period in August (excluding block transactions), Adris pref. generated HRK 13.46m or 10.4%, while HT generated HRK 13.45m. Valamar Riviera comes third, accounting for 9.4% (or HRK 12.25m). Next come Optima Telekom and Institut IGH with 7.6% and 7.2%, respectively. Atlantska Plovidba follows with 6.8%. These five shares generated more than half of the turnover recorded by the entire (equity) market.
Share Price Performance of Croatian Blue Chips in August (%)
As visible in the graph, of the observed Croatian blue chips, Adris pref. observed the highest share price increase of 5.7%. On the flip side, Optima Telekom observed a sharp decrease of 16.72%. Such a decrease came on the back of the news that HT will start fulfilling its obligation to engage an investment bank for the further sale process or to take actions to prevent possible delays in fulfilling the obligations prescribed by the Croatian Competition Agency decision on the conditionally permitted concentration of HT and Optima.
When observing the total equity market capitalization, it observed an increase of 1.1% MoM, amounting to HRK 131.47bn (EUR 17.67bn). Ina’s share is the biggest constituent of the total exchange’s equity market capitalization, accounting for about 22.4% of the total value. Next, come two Croatian banks – ZABA and PBZ with 12.5% and 11.7%, respectively. Further, HT holds 10.5%.
As a result of the above mentioned solid share price performance of Croatian blue chips, CROBEX ended August with a solid increase of 2.75% ending at 1,617.09 points.
It is also worth noting that all sector indices ended the month in green, with CROBEXkonstrukt observing the highest increase of 39.41%, which came on the back of a strong share price performance of all 3 of its constituents.
